Definitions
Grouper is any species of grouper legal for harvest and within Open state or Federal season.
Other/Miscellaneous includes any fish legal for harvest and not included in the other categories.
Lionfish will be a Biggest, Smallest (by length), & total weight of lionfish harvested over the duration of the tournament.
King Spearfisherman Award – Points for all males will be added up for all categories to determine winner.
Queen Spearfisherman Award – Points for all females will be added up for all categories to determine winner.
Novice Award - Points will be added up for all categories to determine winner. Novice divers must have 4 years or less from Open Water Certification. Must prove date of certification at weigh in.
Best Boat Award - Points will be added up for all divers and all categories to determine winner.
Best Club Award - Points will be added up for all divers within each dive club for all categories to determine winner.

Rules
1. Weighmasters/ tournament officials have final say. In the event the officials disagree on an issue, club president will make the deciding vote. Officials for 2023 tournament are Heath Powell & Marcus McDavid.
2. Boundaries are open to all Gulf of Mexico waters and competition begins June 22nd ,2023 at 12:01 am and ends on June 25th, 2023 2pm when scales close.
3. All legal fish are open for harvest and within Open state or Federal Season and Regulations.
4. All contestants must be certified in their area (Scuba / Freediver) and conduct themselves properly.
5. Category winners are determined by biggest fish by weight except for Lionfish which will be determined by length for biggest/smallest and total weight for most lionfish.
6. All speared fish must be taken by speargun or polespear with or without float lines and while submerged under water. (No shooting from boat!)
7. No ties will be considered. The first entry logged is the winner if two fish have the exact weight.
8. Participant can only win in one place in each category. You can not have multiple fish in one category.
9. Everyone on the boat must be registered in the rodeo.
10. Gaffed fish WILL NOT be accepted in the rod and reel category.
11. Trout and redfish will be measured mouth closed, nose against bump board and tail pinched. In the case of an over sized fish you will get 1 remeasure. Weigh masters decision will be final.
12. Valid fishing license for the state(s) you will fish/spear in is required of all participants.
13. All fish subject to inspection.
14. No power heads allowed.
15. Fish must be speared and brought to the boat without assistance.
16. Ties for King, Queen, Club , Boat will be determined by total weight of fish placed on the board.
17. BAD WEATHER RULE – in the case of bad weather, any 24 hour period without a small craft advisory during the rodeo dates will mean the tournament goes on as planned without being rescheduled.
